The announcement, made on October 30 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), was confirmed Monday by the Tangier City Council.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The municipality said the recognition honors Tangier\u2019s long cultural legacy as a crossroads of creativity, diversity, and intellectual life.
