India\u2019s government has announced several reforms for the aviation sector, all designed to make passengers\u2019 journeys that much easier \u2013 and cheaper \u2013 to book.<\/p>\n
The Indian Ministry of Civil Aviation’s new passenger-first reforms include an order to ensure that 60% of seats on flights are available to select free of charge. Currently, only 20% of seats are reserved for free seat selection.<\/p>\n
The ministry said on Wednesday that it has made these orders to \u201censure fair access.\u201d<\/p>\n
Other directives issued through aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) include orders that airlines<\/p>\n
Seat passengers traveling on the same Passenger Name Record (PNR) together.<\/p>\n
Facilitate the carriage of sports equipment and musical instruments \u201cin a transparent and passenger-friendly manner.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Develop and publish \u201cclear, transparent policies for carriage of pets.\u201d<\/p>\n
