However, in <\/span><b>February<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><b>South America hosted a historic and unprecedented flight,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> which was <\/span><b>operated by a SuperJumbo.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jetphotos.com\/photo\/11464659\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On<\/span><b> February 22nd <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">at <\/span><b>22:28 local time, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">this<\/span><b> Airbus A380-842 departed Sydney bound for S\u00e3o Paulo Guarulhos <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(GRU\/SBGR),<\/span><b> Brazil\u2019s main airport.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> The <\/span><b>aircraft was operating flight QF6043,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> which indicated that it was a <\/span><b>positioning or ferry flight,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> as <\/span><b>Qantas uses QF60xx flight numbers for this type of operation.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Sydney and S\u00e3o Paulo are separated by more than 13,000 kilometers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and there have <\/span><b>never been commercial passenger flights<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> between them.<\/span><b> Nor have there been commercial flights between Australia and Brazil,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> although <\/span><b>Qantas had visited some Brazilian airports a few years ago.<\/b><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_64279\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-64279\" style=\"width: 1200px\" 2016,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> during the <\/span><b>Olympic Games<\/b> <b>held in Rio de Janeiro.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> The <\/span><b>Boeing 747-438(ER),<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> with registration <\/span><b>VH-OEG,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> operated a <\/span><b>charter flight between Rio de Janeiro and Sydney<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to bring back the Australian athletes after their participation in the Olympics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Previously, as can be seen on <\/span><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jetphotos.com\/showphotos.php?aircraft=all&amp;airline=Qantas&amp;country-location=country%253BBrazil&amp;genre=all&amp;keywords-contain=3&amp;keywords=&amp;photo-year=all&amp;photographer-group=all&amp;search-type=Advanced&amp;sort-order=0&amp;page=1\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>JetPhotos<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, the <\/span><b>Australian airline had performed several charter flights to three Brazilian cities<\/b><span 400\">(MAO\/SBEG),<\/span><b> and Rio de Janeiro Gale\u00e3o.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> The <\/span><b>three cities were part of world tours<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> organized following its departure,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> the <\/span><b>Airbus A380-842 landed on runway 09R<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> at <\/span><b>Guarulhos Airport in S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> It <\/span><b>parked at the airport\u2019s new terminal <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(T3) right next to another <\/span><b>Airbus A380, Emirates\u2019 A6-EVN,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> which was <\/span><b>operating flight EK261\/262 on the Dubai-S\u00e3o Paulo-Dubai route.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Six hours after arrival,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> more precisely on <\/span><b>February 23rd at 05:48 local time,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> the <\/span><b>Airbus A380-800 departed from Guarulhos Airport on flight QF308 to Sydney,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> with a <\/span><b>stopover in Auckland<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (AKL\/NZAA), which was finally not made, arriving in Sydney from Sao Paulo at 09:49 local time on <strong>February 24th.<\/strong> The flight between Sao Paulo and Sydney took <strong>16 hours<\/strong> and <strong>28 style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to the Brazilian aviation media <\/span><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/aeroin.net\/airbus-a380-fretado-por-bad-bunny-gastou-242-mil-litros-de-combustivel-para-voar-de-sp-a-sydney\/\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>AEROIN<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, the <\/span><b>SuperJumbo was chartered by Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> as he had <\/span><b>performed in S\u00e3o Paulo on February 21st and was due to fly to Australia to continue his world tour called <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">DeB\u00cd TiRAR M\u00e1S FOToS.\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Therefore, this <\/span><b>A380 flew to the Brazilian city on a ferry flight,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> i.e., <\/span><b>without passengers on board,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and returned to <\/span><b>Oceania with Bad Bunny and 244 other passengers on board,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> as reported by <\/span><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/analyticflying\/status\/2026043075714523506\"><b>Analytic Flying<\/b><\/a><b>.<\/b><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_64282\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-64282\" style=\"font-weight: 400\">or <\/span><b>New Zealand.<\/b> <b>Oceania is the only continent to which Brazil does not have regular non-stop flights,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> mainly due to the long distance involved.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Regarding Latin American <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">countries, <\/span><b>Chile and Argentina are the only ones connected to Oceania via non-stop flights,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> with <\/span><b>Chile being the main market.<\/b> <b>LATAM is the market-leading airline<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> with <\/span><b>three routes,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> followed by <\/span><b>Qantas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, which<\/span><b> has been offering flights to the Chilean capital for 14 years.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For its part, <\/span><b>Argentina resumed flights to Oceania in December last year,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> a <\/span><b>historically important market for the country with which it had not been connected since March 2020.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> The <\/span><b>only airline operating is China Eastern Airlines, China\u2019s second-largest airline,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> with <\/span><b>Boeing 777-300(ER) aircraft <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">configured for 1980s,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> but services between <\/span><b>Oceania and Africa had already been operating for about 30 years by that time.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>On November 14th, 1948, Qantas Empire Airways made history by connecting the continents of Oceania and Africa in an unprecedented first-ever flight,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> operating a <\/span><b>test trip between Sydney and Johannesburg using an Avro Lancastrian,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> a British-Canadian aircraft produced in the <\/span><b>1940s and 1950s.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>The route <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">in question <\/span><b>consisted of four stops:<\/b> <b>Melbourne, Perth, the Cocos Islands, and Mauritius.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> It <\/span><b>arrived in the South African city on November 20th<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> after a <\/span><b>six-day flight totaling 42 hours in the air.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> On the <\/span><b>return trip<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, the <\/span><b>aircraft followed the same route,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> with the <\/span><b>addition of a
