Morocco has been selected by FIFA to host its 77th elective congress in 2027, French broadcaster RMC Sport reported, citing multiple sources, in a move that highlights the kingdom’s growing influence in international football.

The congress will carry particular importance because it is expected to include the election of FIFA’s next president, with current president Gianni Infantino widely expected to seek another term.

According to the report, Infantino could remain eligible to run until 2031 despite FIFA’s three-term limit because his first mandate, from 2016 to 2019, was considered incomplete after he succeeded former president Sepp Blatter.

Rabat is expected to host the congress, although FIFA has not yet officially announced the final venue. The Moroccan capital would welcome football federation delegates from around the world for the gathering.

The choice of Morocco comes as the country prepares to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal and after securing the organization of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, reinforcing its position as a major international sports destination.

Before the 2027 congress, FIFA’s next congress is scheduled for Thursday in Vancouver, where officials are expected to discuss financial and organizational matters related to the 2026 World Cup, including transport, infrastructure and coordination among host stadiums.

The participation of Iran’s national team in the 2026 World Cup is also expected to be discussed during the meeting, although FIFA officials have reportedly said that Iran’s status remains unchanged for now.

Rephrase in a different way as if you were a native American speaker as a content creation expert and do not talk about yourself or your experience in the text and do not show yourself as an artificial intelligence who wrote and fill the bullet point in the topic and speak the heart of the topic itself and dont take date of blog in ther first and dont take text like box of newsliter subscribe on post from content and romove all linke insert in content and and remove all affiliate disclosure phrases on content like this “This post may contain Amazon or other affiliate links that allow us to earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
