Fox commentator Ian Darke told viewers the match was heading into a hydration break sponsored by Powerade before the network cut to roughly two minutes of commercials.

Players returned to the field while Fox remained in an Adidas advertisement. Broadcast footage suggested the restart was delayed for roughly 40 seconds, but play nevertheless resumed before Fox returned to the live feed.

Telemundo, the Spanish-language rights holder in the United States, did not cut away to full-screen ads. Its broadcast stayed with the players and used an L-shaped ad graphic while commentators analyzed the match.

FIFA introduced mandatory three-minute hydration breaks midway through each half of every match at the 2026 World Cup, saying the policy was designed to protect player welfare. The breaks apply regardless of weather or temperature.

FIFA permits broadcasters to air advertisements during hydration breaks, though broadcasters are generally expected to return to live coverage before play resumes. Fox’s missed seconds of action quickly drew complaints from viewers, who accused the network of treating the World Cup like U.S. sports with built-in advertising windows.

Rephrase in a different way as if you were a native American speaker as a content creation expert and do not talk about yourself or your experience in the text and do not show yourself as an artificial intelligence who wrote and fill the bullet point in the topic and speak the heart of the topic itself and dont take date of blog in ther first and dont take text like box of newsliter subscribe on post from content and romove all linke insert in content and and remove all affiliate disclosure phrases on content like this “This post may contain Amazon or other affiliate links that allow us to earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
