I used to think that Casa is boring and there is nothing to see except the medina and the Hassan II Mosque. I discovered this place thanks to Tahir Shah<\/a> – the writer behind The Caliph\u2019s House<\/em> – on a Saturday afternoon, and got amazed.<\/p>\n

It is the cemetery of the people who settled first in the city of Casablanca. Most of them were Europeans: Italians, Spanish and French, who arrived when Casa was booming into Morocco\u2019s great port city a century ago. The place is hidden, not many people know about it, and not everybody can enter. Overgrown, silent, and strangely moving – a whole chapter of the city\u2019s story sleeping behind a wall.<\/p>\n
