The system has been in place since Morocco liberalized fuel prices nearly a decade ago.

The decrease follows a series of fuel price increases in recent months. On Oct. 1, diesel prices rose by 85 centimes per liter, while premium gasoline increased by 44 centimes.

Diesel prices have risen by a cumulative 3.54 dirhams per liter since mid-summer 2026, according to previous calculations by the newspaper. Prices exceeded 16.30 dirhams per liter at the beginning of October, with variations across cities and distribution networks.

The latest reduction coincided with a decline in international oil prices early Friday. Brent crude fell 71 cents to $105.21 per barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate dropped 77 cents to $97.20 at around 3:52 a.m. GMT.

Despite the declines, both benchmarks were heading for weekly gains, with Brent up around 0.44% for the week and U.S. crude gaining 5.81%.

Trading on Thursday had ended on a mixed note. Brent crude for December delivery settled at $105.92 per barrel after a slight decline, while U.S. crude for November delivery rose 3% to $97.97.

Oil markets have been affected by continued energy supply disruptions linked to the war in the Middle East, with attacks near the Strait of Hormuz intensifying over the past 10 days.

Average oil flows through the strait reached 11.62 million barrels per day as of Oct. 13, equivalent to 68% of the benchmark level, according to data from shipping analytics firm Kpler.

In response to supply concerns, the International Energy Agency approved the release of more than 20 million barrels of diesel onto the market, while the U.S. administration is considering lifting sanctions on certain oil tankers linked to the so-called shadow fleet.

Meanwhile, a tanker carrying about 40,000 metric tons of low-sulfur Russian diesel is heading to Morocco, according to data from the London Stock Exchange Group. The cargo was loaded on Tuesday at Russia’s Baltic Sea port of Primorsk. The importer, receiving port and expected arrival date have not been disclosed.

The shipment follows Russia’s partial easing of diesel export restrictions, which took effect on Oct. 10, alongside the issuance of a license by the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control.

The latest price reduction comes ahead of the next scheduled fuel price review in early November, as consumers and businesses continue to monitor fuel costs and their impact on transportation and consumer goods prices.

Rephrase in a different way as if you were a native American speaker as a content creation expert and do not talk about yourself or your experience in the text and do not show yourself as an artificial intelligence who wrote and fill the bullet point in the topic and speak the heart of the topic itself and dont take date of blog in ther first and dont take text like box of newsliter subscribe on post from content and romove all linke insert in content and and remove all affiliate disclosure phrases on content like this “This post may contain Amazon or other affiliate links that allow us to earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
