Italian energy engineering company Saipem has secured a substantial $4 billion contract with QatarEnergy, a prominent player in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector. This engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract is a critical component of the North Field Production Sustainability Offshore Compression Program, aimed at expanding QatarEnergy\u2019s operations in the North Field.<\/p>\n
The North Field itself is recognized as one of the largest natural gas fields globally. This initiative aligns with Qatar\u2019s strategic objective to elevate its LNG production capacity from the current 77 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) to an impressive 142 mtpa by 2030. This expansion plan is crucial in reinforcing Qatar\u2019s status as a leading global LNG supplier.<\/p>\n
Saipem\u2019s responsibilities under this project will involve the installation of six offshore platforms, as well as the deployment of over 100 kilometers of subsea pipelines, composite cables, and fiber optic cables.<\/p>\n
Beyond its efforts in Qatar, Saipem has also recently secured two offshore contracts in Saudi Arabia, totaling approximately $1 billion, which are part of a long-term agreement with Saudi Aramco.<\/p>\n
