Air Tanzania continues its international expansion in Africa, with the launch of services to South Africa in <\/span>late November<\/b>. The airline plans to operate four flights per week with <\/span>Boeing 737 MAX 9<\/b> aircraft, configured for 181 passengers<\/strong> in two seating classes (<\/span>16<\/b> Business <\/b>and <\/span>165 Economy<\/b>).<\/span><\/p>\n

In accordance with its website, Air Tanzania\u2019s inaugural flight to Johannesburg will depart from Dar-es-Salaam, the country\u2019s largest city and main financial hub, on <\/span>November 30th <\/b>at 11:00 local time. With this schedule, the company will offer <\/span>724 weekly seats <\/b>on each leg, reaching almost <\/span>3,000<\/b> seats a month<\/b>, with Airlink being the only competitor on the Johannesburg \u2013 Dar-es-Salaam route.<\/span><\/p>\n

Currently, Airlink, as we announced in our <\/span>September <\/b>Africa and Middle East report, boosted from seven to eight weekly services on this route, which operates by <\/span>98<\/b>-seat <\/span>Embraer 190s<\/b>. In addition, as of <\/span>January 20th<\/b>, <\/span>2025<\/b>, South African Airways will once again serve between the two cities, providing one daily frequency on <\/span>Airbus A320 jets<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Regarding Zanzibar, the other destination in Tanzania offered from Johannesburg\u2019s Oliver Reginald Tambo Airport, FlySafair has flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays with <\/span>Boeing 737-800s.<\/b><\/p>\n
