Moroccan authorities have uncovered a hidden weapons cache in Errachidia with ties to an ISIS-affiliated terrorist cell operating in the Sahel region.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Using advanced satellite-based location identification, BCIJ pinpointed the area in the Errachidia province, specifically near Tel Mezil, located close to Oued Guir within the commune of Oued N\u2019aim in the Boudenib area on Morocco\u2019s eastern border.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This location, characterized by its rugged and unpaved terrain, was difficult to access, requiring significant logistical support for field inspections.<\/span><\/p>\n

To ensure safety, especially given the possibility of explosives, the BCIJ deployed specialized police dogs trained to detect explosives, along with metal detection devices, bomb disposal robots, and X-ray scanners.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0The operation lasted for about three hours, and the authorities eventually unearthed several firearms and ammunition buried beneath a rocky elevation. The seized weapons included two Kalashnikov rifles, shotguns, handguns, and a variety of cartridges.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These weapons were found wrapped in plastic bags and newspapers from Mali, further indicating their illegal smuggling route from the Sahel region.<\/span><\/p>\n

The weapons were carefully cataloged and sent to the National Police Scientific Laboratory for ballistic and technical analysis. Preliminary findings suggest that the firearms had been supplied by an ISIS leader in the Sahel region and smuggled through illegal routes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It is believed that once the weapons arrived, the ISIS leader sent coordinates to the terrorist cell\u2019s coordinators, instructing them to retrieve the weapons for use in planned terrorist activities.<\/span><\/p>\n

The BCIJ continues to investigate the case under the supervision of the public prosecutor, working to dismantle the network and trace its full connections to ISIS in Africa. <\/span><\/p>\n
