We recently discussed on the blog about the busiest route in Latin America<\/span>, <\/span>S\u00e3o Paulo Congonhas \u2013 Rio de Janeiro Santos Dumont.<\/b> Azul Linhas A\u00e9reas Brasileiras<\/b> (AD\/AZU), <\/b>GOL Linhas A\u00e9reas<\/b> (G3\/GLO) and <\/b>LATAM Brasil<\/b> (LA\/LAN) operate in this market,<\/b> offering more than <\/span>375 weekly<\/b> flights. <\/b>This number could be even higher if flights between other nearby airports are taken into account, which would bring the total to over 500 flights per week<\/span>.<\/b><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

Moving on to <\/span>North America,<\/b> the busiest route is contested by two services in the <\/span>United States,<\/b> one of them being on the <\/span>West Coast of the country and the other in Hawaii.<\/b> With respect to the West Coast route, something similar occurs as with S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Rio de Janeiro, <\/span>where the total number of weekly frequencies increases when considering the surrounding airports of both cities.<\/b> On the other hand, the Hawaii route only considers flights between two islands, which is the total number of weekly services.<\/span><\/p>\n

In accordance with our database, <\/span>the busiest route in the United States and North America, <\/b>considering the number of weekly flights for point-to-point routes only, is <\/span>Los Angeles International Airport<\/b> (LAX\/KLAX) \u2013 <\/b>San Francisco International Airport<\/b> (SFO\/KSFO),<\/b> operating around <\/span>250 flights a week.<\/b> This service<\/span> is performed by several U.S. airlines<\/b> with a variety of aircraft types, including <\/span>Airbus A319<\/b>, <\/b>Airbus A320<\/b>, <\/b>Airbus A321neo<\/b>, <\/b>Boeing 737-700<\/b>, <\/b>Boeing 737-800<\/b>, <\/b>Boeing 737-900<\/b>, <\/b>Boeing 737 MAX<\/b>, CRJ-701, <\/b>Embraer 170<\/b> and <\/span>Embraer 175<\/b>.<\/b><\/p>\n

Alaska Airlines<\/b> (AS\/ASA),<\/span> American Airlines<\/b> (AA\/AAL),<\/span> Delta Air Lines<\/b> (DL\/DAL),<\/span> Frontier<\/b> (F9\/FFT),<\/span> Southwest Airlines<\/b> (WN\/SWA) and <\/span>United Airlines<\/b> (UA\/UAL) have operations between<\/span> Los Angeles<\/b> (LAX\/KLAX) and <\/span>San Francisco <\/b>(SFO\/KSFO), and many of them also serve between other nearby airports.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We also consider <\/span>Avelo<\/b>, which operates to <\/span>Santa Rosa Sonoma County Airport<\/span> (STS\/KSTS) from <\/span>Burbank Bob Hope Airport<\/span> (BUR\/KBUR), <\/span>Breeze <\/b>with its <\/span>San Bernardino International Airport<\/span> (SBD\/KSBD) \u2013 <\/span>San Francisco<\/b> (SFO\/KSFO) route, and <\/span>Spirit, <\/b>serving between <\/span>Santa Ana John Wayne Airport<\/span> (SNA\/KSNA) and <\/span>Oakland International Airport<\/span> (OAK\/KOAK).<\/span><\/p>\n

Aloha Air Cargo<\/b> operates around 30 weekly flights on the Honolulu-Kahului route with <\/span>Boeing 737-300(F) <\/b>and <\/span>Boeing 737-400(F)<\/b> aircraft. The airline has four 737-300s, two 737-400s and two 767-300s in its fleet, and plans to add another 737-400 in the near future.<\/span><\/p>\n

Furthermore, <\/span>United Parcel Service (UPS)<\/b> provides the <\/span>Ontario <\/b>(ONT\/KONT) \u2013 <\/span>Kahului <\/b>(OGG\/PHOG) \u2013 <\/span>Honolulu <\/b>(HNL\/PHNL) \u2013 <\/span>Lihue <\/b>(LIH\/PLIH) \u2013 <\/span>San Bernardino <\/b>(SBD\/KSBD) route, three to four times weekly on <\/span>Boeing 767-300(F) <\/b>aircraft<\/span>.<\/b><\/p>\n

Los Angeles <\/b>(LAX\/KLAX) has more than <\/span>800 departures a day on average, <\/b>considering domestic, international, passenger and cargo flights. In the last month, according to our database, the record was set on <\/span>July 18th<\/b>, with more than <\/span>890 <\/b>departures performed. <\/span><\/p>\n

San Francisco International Airport <\/b>(SFO\/KSFO) has about <\/span>600 daily departures, <\/b>with July 18th<\/strong> being the busiest day of the last month with a total of 625 departures. <\/span><\/p>\n

HNL<\/h3>\n

Honolulu<\/b>, Hawaii\u2019s busiest airport, has more than <\/span>270 departures per day, <\/b>sometimes surpassing <\/span>300 flights<\/b>, as was the case on <\/span>June 17th, 18th, 19th, 26th and 27th, <\/b>and <\/span>July 2nd, 9th, 10th, 11th, <\/b>15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 21st, 22nd<\/b> and 23rd, <\/b>being the record reached on <\/span>July 18th <\/b>with <\/span>320 <\/b>departures. During the last month, the airport exceeded <\/span>8,300 departures<\/b>, including passengers, cargo and special services. <\/span><\/p>\n

OGG<\/h3>\n

Kahului Airport <\/b>has nearly 3,000 monthly flights, mostly domestic, as it is also connected to <\/span>Calgary <\/b>and <\/span>Vancouver <\/b>in <\/span>Canada <\/b>by <\/span>WestJet<\/b>. <\/span>Hawaiian Airlines <\/b>is the <\/span>airport\u2019s main operator<\/b>, with routes within the <\/span>United States<\/b>. <\/span>Alaska Airlines<\/b>, <\/span>American Airlines<\/b>, <\/span>Delta Air Lines<\/b>, <\/span>Southwest Airlines<\/b>, <\/span>United Airlines <\/b>and <\/span>Southern Airways Express<\/b>, the latter a <\/span>Hawaiian airline <\/b>with <\/span>Cessna aircraft<\/b>, also operate at OGG.<\/span><\/p>\n
