IndiGo<\/b> (6E\/IGO) operated its <\/span>first regular flight with a wide body aircraft<\/b> on <\/span>February 1st, 2023<\/b>, marking the inauguration of its new and first route to <\/span>Europe, Delhi<\/b> (DEL\/VIDP) \u2013 <\/span>Istanbul <\/b>(IST\/LTFM)<\/span>.<\/b> The aircraft used was a <\/span>Turkish Airlines<\/b> (TK\/THY) <\/span>Boeing 777-300(ER)<\/b> registered TC-LKA<\/b>,<\/b> under a <\/span>damp lease agreement.<\/b> Initially, this agreement was scheduled to run until <\/span>May 2025<\/b>, but the <\/span>Directorate General of Civil Aviation <\/b>(DGCA)<\/span> granted IndiGo a final three-month extension.<\/b><\/p>\n

As you can see through our database, on <\/span>February 1st, 2023<\/b> at 07:24 local time, the inaugural flight to Istanbul departed Indira Gandhi International Airport. It landed in the Turkish city at 11:41 local time after a 6-hour and 47-minute flight.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The aircraft performed the <\/span>Delhi-Istanbul route until May 30th, 2023,<\/b> being replaced by another <\/span>Boeing 777-300(ER)<\/b>. Since then, flights <\/span>6E11<\/b> and <\/span>6E12<\/b> are usually operated on the 777 with registration <\/span>TC-LKE<\/b>, which has a high-density seating configuration.<\/span><\/p>\n

In <\/span>May 2023,<\/b> IndiGo <\/b>inaugurated its <\/span>second route with wide body aircraft<\/b>, also focused on the <\/span>India-T\u00fcrkiye market and conducted by Turkish Airlines\u2019 Boeing 777-300(ER).<\/b> This Triple Seven, registered <\/span>TC-LKB<\/b>, commenced services for IndiGo on <\/span>May 17th,<\/b> 2023 <\/b>with flight <\/span>6E17<\/b>\/<\/span>6E18<\/b> between <\/span>Mumbai <\/b>(BOM\/VABB) and <\/span>Istanbul <\/b>(IST\/LTFM), which it covered until late <\/span>June 2023<\/b>. As of <\/span>July 2023<\/b>, the route began to be provided by <\/span>Turkish Boeing 777-300(ER) aircraft configured for 531 passengers<\/b> (TC-LKD or TC-LKE).<\/span><\/p>\n

IndiGo <\/b>confirmed its <\/span>first major expansion into Europe by April 2025<\/b>, with the <\/span>launch of two new scheduled routes<\/b>. As with Istanbul, these services were planned to be operated by aircraft from other airlines, with <\/span>Norse Atlantic Airways<\/b> (N0\/NBT) <\/span>being chosen in this case, under another damp lease agreement.<\/b><\/p>\n

Amsterdam <\/b>(AMS\/EHAM) and <\/span>Manchester <\/b>(MAN\/EGCC) have joined <\/span>IndiGo\u2019s regular schedule from\/to Mumbai airport<\/b>, offering three weekly flights on each route. Both connections, which started in early <\/span>July 2025<\/b>, are performed by the same aircraft: <\/span>Norse\u2019s <\/b>Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner<\/b> with registry <\/b>LN-FNC<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

In contrast to Turkish\u2019s Boeing 777-300(ER), the 787-9 did not receive the IndiGo livery, but does have the airline\u2019s titles on the fuselage. The aircraft seats <\/span>338 passengers in two classes<\/b> (<\/span>56 seats <\/b>in <\/span>Premium <\/b>and <\/span>282 seats <\/b>in <\/span>Economy<\/b>), the same configuration it had when flying for <\/span>Norwegian Air UK <\/b>between <\/span>May 2018 <\/b>and <\/span>March 2020<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

IndiGo<\/b> currently has <\/span>20 flights a week with wide body aircraft<\/b>, all of them between <\/span>India<\/b> and <\/span>Europe<\/b>. These are their schedules and frequencies.<\/span><\/p>\n

With this schedule, IndiGo offers 7,434 weekly seats<\/strong> between India<\/strong> and T\u00fcrkiye <\/b>and vice versa, with 3,717<\/strong> seats per week on each route.<\/strong> Of the 3,717 seats, 49<\/strong> are in Business<\/strong> and 3,668<\/strong> are in Economy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

August 31st, 2025, will be IndiGo\u2019s last flight with Turkish Airlines\u2019 Boeing 777-300(ER) aircraft.<\/b> At first, the Indian airline had requested a <\/span>six-month extension,<\/b> which was <\/span>rejected<\/b>, but it did manage to obtain a <\/span>three-month extension.<\/b><\/p>\n

Mumbai \u2013 Amsterdam<\/span><\/h4>\n

IndiGo Airlines\u2019<\/b> inaugural flight departed <\/span>Mumbai <\/b>for <\/span>Amsterdam <\/b>at 05:47 local time on <\/span>July 2nd<\/b>, where it landed at 11:00 local time. <\/span>The Dutch capital joins IndiGo\u2019s network for the first time<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

It will increase its flights from three to four a week as of September 22nd.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Mumbai \u2013 Manchester<\/span><\/h4>\n

At 04:37 local time on <\/span>July 1st,<\/b> IndiGo\u2019s <\/b>first flight to <\/span>Manchester <\/b>took off from <\/span>Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport<\/b>. As with the<\/span> Netherlands<\/b>, this <\/span>new route marks the company\u2019s first foray into the United Kingdom<\/b>. <\/span><\/p>\n

Mumbai-Manchester<\/b> will be the longest route in its network, both in terms of distance and total flight time.<\/span><\/p>\n

IndiGo<\/b> has an important international schedule from <\/span>India<\/b>, with flights to <\/span>Africa<\/b>, <\/span>East Asia<\/b>, <\/span>Europe<\/b>, the <\/span>Middle East <\/b>and <\/span>Southeast Asia<\/b>. <\/span>Mumbai <\/b>is its main international base, with flights to <\/span>Bahrain, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Kenya, Kuwait, Maldives, Nepal, Netherlands, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Seychelles, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, T\u00fcrkiye, United Arab Emirates <\/b>and the <\/span>United Kingdom.<\/b><\/p>\n

Ahmedabad<\/b> (AMD\/VAAH), <\/span>Bengaluru <\/b>(BLR\/VOBL), <\/span>Chennai <\/b>(MAA\/VOMM), <\/span>Cochin <\/b>(COK\/VOCI), <\/span>Delhi<\/b> (DEL\/VIDP) and <\/span>Kolkata <\/b>(CCU\/VOCL) are some of the other bases where IndiGo offers international flights, mainly within <\/span>Asia<\/b>, as well as to <\/span>Africa <\/b>and the <\/span>Middle East<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Currently, in addition to operating on a damp lease agreement with <\/span>wide body aircraft <\/b>from <\/span>Norse Atlantic Airways <\/b>and <\/span>Turkish Airlines<\/b>, the Indian airline has <\/span>narrow body aircraft from other carriers <\/b>in its fleet, which serve<\/span> domestic and international flights.<\/b><\/p>\n

SmartLynx<\/span><\/h4>\n

IndiGo <\/b>leases <\/span>SmartLynx <\/b>Airbus A320-200<\/b> aircraft from <\/span>late 2024 through a wet-lease agreement.<\/b> At the time of publication, as can be seen in our database, two SmartLynx A320s are operating for IndiGo, with <\/span>9H-SLD<\/b> and <\/span>9H-SLE<\/b> being their registration numbers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Qatar<\/span><\/h4>\n

By <\/span>mid-2024<\/b>, <\/span>IndiGo had incorporated Qatar Airways\u2019<\/b> first <\/span>Boeing 737 MAX 8<\/b> under a <\/span>wet-lease agreement.<\/b> It currently has seven 737 MAXs in its fleet <\/span>(<\/b>A7-BSA<\/b>, <\/b>A7-BSB<\/b>, <\/b>A7-BSC<\/b>, <\/b>A7-BSD<\/b>, <\/b>A7-BSE<\/b>, <\/b>A7-BSF<\/b> and <\/b>A7-BSI<\/b>)<\/b>, flying mainly between I<\/strong><\/span>ndia and Doha Hamad International Airport<\/b>. <\/span>Bengaluru, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kannur, <\/b>and <\/span>Mumbai<\/b> are the routes performed to\/from Doha.<\/span><\/p>\n

Corendon<\/span><\/h4>\n

IndiGo <\/b>added wet-leased aircraft to its fleet to <\/span>strengthen temporary operational capacity and overcome supply chain issues.<\/b> In addition to <\/span>Qatar <\/b>and <\/span>SmartLynx<\/b>, some of the airline\u2019s flights were also operated by <\/span>Corendon Airlines\u2019 Boeing 737 <\/b>aircraft until <\/span>early 2025.<\/b><\/p>\n

With regard to <\/span>IndiGo aircraft<\/b>, the airline has <\/span>48 ATR 72-200<\/b>, <\/span>28 Airbus A320-200<\/b>, <\/span>183 Airbus A320neo<\/b>, <\/span>3 Airbus A321-200(P2F)<\/b>\u00a0and <\/span>142 Airbus A321neo<\/b>.<\/span> In <\/span>June 2023,<\/b> IndiGo<\/b> placed a massive order<\/b> for more than<\/span> 500 narrow-body aircraft from Airbus<\/b>, and in <\/span>June 2025 it ordered 69 Airbus A321XLRs<\/b>, which will <\/span>strengthen its expansion in East Africa, Europe and Northeast Asia.<\/b><\/p>\n

Furthermore, <\/span>IndiGo Airlines placed an order for 30 Airbus A350-900s in June 2024<\/b>, which was <\/span>doubled in June of the following year<\/b>. The <\/span>first A350s are scheduled to join the fleet starting in 2027.<\/b><\/p>\n
