International music producer and songwriter Nadir Khayat, known globally as RedOne, said he and a group of Moroccan and international artists completed 12 tracks for his new album in just three weeks, describing the project as an intensive collaborative effort launched “from Morocco to the world.”
Speaking Tuesday at a news conference in Casablanca, RedOne said the album, titled “God, Nation, King,” was produced under tight timelines due to the Africa Cup of Nations currently being held in Morocco, with artists juggling multiple professional commitments. He said the final result reflects a shared national and cultural vision.
The album was released to coincide with the tournament and celebrates Morocco’s cultural heritage through a mix of contemporary global sounds and traditional Moroccan influences. Several tracks feature Amazigh themes, African rhythms, and multilingual lyrics aimed at an international audience.
RedOne highlighted the track “Achkid,” which has topped Moroccan social media trends, as an example of the album’s focus on Amazigh identity. He praised the vocal performance of singer Chaimaa Abdelaziz and said actor Omar Lotfi assisted with the accuracy of Amazigh pronunciation and translation. The song blends Moroccan rap and pop with international production elements.
The album brings together Moroccan artists including Salma Rachid, Hatem Ammor, Asmaa Lmnawar, Manal Benchlikha, Zouhair Bahaoui, and the group Fnaïre, alongside international stars such as Akon, French Montana, Ne-Yo, Jason Derulo, Shenseea, IIcon and Yemi Alade.
RedOne said his involvement in the tournament’s opening ceremony was limited to the song “Le Show,” featuring Aya Starr, Akon and French Montana, but noted that the album includes multiple tracks with similar global appeal, including “Africa,” “We Gonna Dance,” and “CAN Players.”
He described the project as a musical platform showcasing Morocco’s cultural diversity while aligning with the celebratory atmosphere of Africa’s largest football tournament.
