Morocco claimed the title of African vice-champion in the Under-14 team tennis category at the African Championships held in Nairobi from February 19 to March 1.
The Moroccan team, comprising four boys and four girls, earned the prestigious spot thanks to strong individual and team performances, including a boys’ doubles title, two podium finishes in boys’ singles, and two semi-final appearances in girls’ singles and doubles.
Kamil Rhazali and Soulaimane Jamji triumphed in the boys’ doubles event, defeating Egypt’s Mohamed Genidy and Abdellatif Mostafa in the final to secure the gold medal.
In boys’ singles, Rhazali reached the final but was narrowly defeated by Genidy, claiming the silver medal. Jamji rounded out the podium by securing third place after overcoming Nigeria’s Chukrudubem Amasi.
In the women’s events, Hind Hennaoui and Zineb Ouazzani Hassani both reached the semi-finals in both singles and doubles, further contributing to Morocco’s strong overall performance.
With these achievements, Morocco finished second in the championships, trailing only Tunisia in the final standings.
