KUWAIT CITY, Jan 10: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has launched a comprehensive monitoring plan that includes extensive field inspections of commercial and consumer markets. This effort, ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, is aimed to ensure the availability of essential goods and verify adherence to approved prices and regulations. Director of the Commercial Control Department at the ministry, Faisal Al-Ansari, stated that the inspections covered a range of locations, including cooperative societies, central markets, and specialty shops selling items such as dates, meat, poultry, flour, tea, coffee, and cardamom, all of which see increased demand before Ramadan.
Continuous monitoring is being carried out across central markets and shops to ensure merchants comply with the ministry’s regulations and to prevent practices that could harm consumers or disrupt the market. Al-Ansari emphasized that these inspections are essential to the ministry’s efforts to regulate markets and maintain stability ahead of Ramadan. Market and shop managers have been formally warned about the need to fully comply with all regulations and bylaws. The ministry affirmed its readiness to take immediate legal action against any violators, and its commitment to consumer protection. It stated that inspection tours will continue in the coming period to ensure the availability of essential goods at fair prices and high quality throughout the holy month.
