Hassan Ouriagli, president and CEO of Moroccan investment group Al Mada, died at age 62 on Saturday afternoon in Paris after suffering a pulmonary embolism. He had been hospitalized four days earlier in critical condition, outlet “LeBrief” reported.
Ouriagli was one of Morocco’s most influential business leaders and had headed Al Mada since 2014. A graduate of France’s École Polytechnique and École des Ponts et Chaussées, he began his career in international consulting and finance before joining the Omnium Nord-Africain (ONA) in the early 2000s, later becoming a key figure at the National Investment Company (SNI).
In 2014, he oversaw one of the most significant strategic shifts in Morocco’s economic landscape, transforming SNI into Al Mada, a long-term investment holding with a strong pan-African focus. Under his leadership, the group expanded its footprint across sectors, including banking, energy, mining, industry, infrastructure, and insurance.
Known for his discretion, discipline, and strategic vision, Ouriagli played a central role in shaping modern private equity and investment practices in Morocco.
