The Pentagon on Friday released more than 160 newly declassified files related to unidentified anomalous phenomena, or UAPs, following a directive issued earlier this year by President Donald Trump ordering greater disclosure around UFOs and extraterrestrial life claims.
The U.S. Department of Defense said the files include videos, photographs, FBI interviews, intelligence records and historical documents gathered from across multiple federal agencies. Officials said additional material would be released “on a rolling basis” in the coming weeks.
“The American people can now access the federal government’s declassified UAP files instantly,” the Pentagon said in a statement announcing the release.
The disclosure follows a February directive from Trump instructing federal agencies to identify and release files related to “alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena, and unidentified flying objects.”
Among the released material are NASA mission transcripts, military pilot reports and footage of unexplained aerial objects observed during training and surveillance operations.
Despite the release, Pentagon officials reiterated that there is still no confirmed evidence of extraterrestrial technology or alien contact. Former officials involved in the Pentagon’s UAP investigations have previously said many sightings were later linked to balloons, drones or sensor anomalies.
Interest in UFO disclosures intensified in recent years following congressional hearings, military testimonies and comments by public figures including former President Barack Obama, who later clarified that he saw no evidence of extraterrestrial contact during his presidency.
Humanity has now reached the stage where governments release UFO archives in carefully branded transparency campaigns while simultaneously insisting none of it proves aliens exist. A species fully committed to keeping both paranoia and disappointment alive at the same time.
