The health ministry in Gaza has reported that an Israeli airstrike on a mosque being used as a shelter in Deir al-Balah resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals. The attack, which occurred early on Sunday, has left numerous others wounded.
According to the ministry’s statement, “The number of martyrs brought to hospitals as a result of the occupation’s targeting of displaced people in the Ibn Rushd school and Al Aqsa Martyrs mosque reached 26, with several more injured.” Earlier reports from the Gaza civil defense agency indicated that 21 fatalities had occurred from the strike.
In contrast, the Israeli military defended its actions, stating that the operation specifically targeted Hamas militants who were using the mosque as a command center. They did not provide details on the casualties resulting from their strike.
