KUWAIT CITY, Feb 12: As part of the Unified GCC traffic week initiative, the Australin University (AU) hosted officials from the Ministry of Interior to promote traffic awareness on campus. This event aligns with AU’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy, reinforcing its commitment to community engagement and public awareness initiatives.
The event was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Interior, along with many university students, faculty and staff. Participants and representatives from the Ministry of Interior included Legal Brigadier Mohammad Al Ajmi, Lieutenant Colonel Yousef Al Rabah, Major Mohammad Al Rafi, Captain Mohammad Al Ghanem, Major Musaid Al Aslawi, and Lieutenant Colonel Naif Al Ajmi.
The event featured a comprehensive lecture addressing key traffic-related topics, focusing on the legal aspects of traffic laws, driver responsibilities, and the consequences of violations. Discussions also addressed the technical aspects of traffic management, the role of advanced traffic camera systems, digital transformation in monitoring road safety, and statistical insights on traffic violations, including cases of run-over incidents and vehicle overturns. A special segment highlighted the leading causes of traffic fatalities and the importance of preventive measures.
In addition to the informative lecture, the event featured an interactive session where attendees participated in a Q&A segment, awarding winners, and had the opportunity to explore a display of traffic enforcement vehicles. The presence of Kuwaiti women police officers was a notable highlight, showcasing their vital roles and the services they provide within the Ministry of Interior.
Commenting on the event, Mr. Abdulmohsen Al Refai, Senior Manager of the Department of Health, Safety, and Security at AU, emphasized the significance of organizing awareness initiatives. He stated: “Educating students on road safety is essential, as they are among the most at-risk groups for traffic incidents. Encouraging safe driving habits is vital in reducing injuries and saving lives.”
