Morocco ranked 17th among footwear suppliers to Brazil in February, exporting 1,976 pairs worth USD 32,500, according to data from the Brazilian Footwear Industry Association “Abicalçados”, Brazil-Arab News Agency (ANBA) reported.
Sales volume surged 3,300% year-over-year, while export value rose 1,049%.
Despite the sharp increase, the average price per pair dropped 66.3% from USD 48.78 in February 2024 to USD 16.45 this year.
Brazil imported USD 49.4 million worth of footwear last month, a 7.5% decline from February 2024, but the total volume grew 11.3% to 4.5 million pairs. China, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Paraguay remained Brazil’s top suppliers.
Meanwhile, Brazil’s footwear exports increased. Shipments in February reached USD 85.9 million, up 8.9% from last year, with 9.6 million pairs exported, a rise of 18.9%. The US, Argentina, Mexico, and Spain were the main buyers.
Abicalçados’ President Haroldo Ferreira linked Brazil’s export growth to a weak 2024 comparison base and a favorable exchange rate.
