Morocco’s Film Production Support Commission has unveiled the list of projects selected for scriptwriting and production grants in its second 2025 session, held between July 7 and 17, according to the Moroccan Cinema Center.
In the fiction category, the commission reviewed 42 feature film projects and 2 short films for pre-production support, in addition to one feature and 4 short films for post-production grants. It also considered 12 projects for scriptwriting support.
Among the recipients, Faouzi Bensaïdi’s project “Histoire d’amour en 10 chansons, 3 mariages et 1 baiser” received the highest grant, with 4 million dirhams. Asmae El Moudir’s “Holy Cow” followed with 3.5 million dirhams. Three films—“Aissa” by Said Azar, “La Grinta” by Ilhame El Alami, and “Keltoum” by Youness Reggab—were awarded 3 million dirhams each. Alaa Akaaboune’s “La cabine” received 2.56 million dirhams.
In short films, “Livre du jour” by Walid Lamharzi Alaoui secured a post-production grant of 160,000 dirhams. “Retour Amer” by Fouad El Moussaoui and “Aslal” by Mohamed Hmimsa were each awarded 150,000 dirhams.
The commission also funded scriptwriting projects including “Le retour” by Jihane El Bahhar, “Weld El Aatar” by Fouad El Moussaoui, “Laaita Alih” by Jamila Annab, and the documentary “Fanek Fine?” by Amal El Atrache, each with 100,000 dirhams. Rewriting support of 50,000 dirhams went to “Saison de prunes,” “Rhazès,” and “Hors Zone.”
In the category of Sahrawi Hassani culture documentaries, several projects received funding: “Aatr al-Rimal” and “Arataa” were granted 750,000 dirhams each; “In Another Language” received 740,000 dirhams; and others including “Arzim Al Hirane,” “Taratil Al Zill,” “Al Maddah,” and “Tandamrite” received 650,000 dirhams. “Campania” was granted 60,000 dirhams for script rewriting.
The jury was chaired by Amine Nasseur and included eleven members from diverse cinematic and academic backgrounds.
