Moroccan international striker Youssef El-Arabi has signed a one-year contract with French Ligue 1 club FC Nantes, with an option for an additional year, the club announced on Friday.

The former Atlas Lion, who earned 45 caps and scored 16 goals for Morocco, joined Nantes 14 years after his last appearance in the French league. Last season, he played for APOEL Nicosia in Cyprus.

A product of Stade Malherbe Caen, where he made his professional debut in 2009, El-Arabi first made headlines in the 2010–2011 season by scoring 17 goals in Ligue 1.

He later embarked on an international career, playing for Saudi club Al-Hilal, Spanish club Granada, Al-Duhail (Qatar), Olympiacos (Greece), and most recently APOEL Nicosia.

During his career, El-Arabi has scored 322 goals in 610 matches across all competitions.

Between 2019 and 2024, he made 225 appearances for Olympiacos, netting 94 goals and providing 25 assists. During that period, he won three Greek league titles consecutively, starting from 2020, and lifted the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Europa Conference League trophy in 2024.

FC Nantes welcomed the Moroccan forward as a “fast and skillful striker” known for consistently scoring at every club he’s played for.
