France will inaugurate a new TLScontact visa center in Laayoune in May 2025, aiming to improve visa access for residents of Morocco’s southern provinces.
The announcement was made on April 16 by French Ambassador Christophe Lecourtier during the opening of TLScontact’s new offices in Casablanca.
The ambassador emphasized France’s commitment to equal access to consular services for all Moroccan citizens, regardless of their location. “We are doing everything possible to ensure residents of Laayoune and Dakhla receive the same services as those in Agadir or Marrakech. Starting next month, that will be the case,” he stated.
The move is part of a broader effort to deepen French-Moroccan cooperation, especially following French President Emmanuel Macron’s 2024 letter to King Mohammed VI, reaffirming support for Morocco’s autonomy plan for the Sahara.
Since then, several high-ranking French officials have visited the southern provinces, reflecting strengthened diplomatic ties and support for Morocco’s territorial integrity.
