Coastal and artisanal fishing landings at ports along the Mediterranean reached 11,426 tons as of the end of August 2025, a 5% increase compared with the same period last year, according to the National Fisheries Office (ONP).
In its latest report on Morocco’s coastal and artisanal fishing statistics, the ONP said that the landings rose by 4%, reaching more than MAD 531.91 million at the end of August, up from MAD 513.16 million a year earlier.
By species, pelagic fish landings at ports from Tangier to Saidia increased by 1% over the first eight months of 2025 to 4,106 tons. The estimated value exceeded MAD 107.71 million, down 2% from MAD 110.35 million (4,068 tons) recorded as of the end of August 2024.
White fish landings totaled 1,782 tons as of the end of August, up 5%, with a value of more than MAD 70.85 million, compared with MAD 70.87 million (1,701 tons) a year earlier.
Cephalopod landings fell by 1% to 4,123 tons, generating revenues of more than MAD 284.35 million. Crustacean landings dropped by 6% to 825 tons, though revenues rose by 3% to more than MAD 64.20 million.
Nationally, total landings of marketed coastal and artisanal fish products reached 682,672 tons as of the end of August, down 11% compared with the same period last year. In terms of value, landings fell slightly to about MAD 7.37 billion, from more than MAD 7.41 billion a year earlier.
