French Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais is targeting Moroccan striker Yassir Zabiri as it seeks to replace departing forward Kader Meïté, French sports daily “L’Equipe” reported.
The 20-year-old forward is currently under contract with Portuguese club FC Famalicão until 2028. L’Equipe described Zabiri as “a versatile attacker capable of operating across all three offensive positions.”
A graduate of Morocco’s Mohammed VI Football Academy, Zabiri rose to prominence after playing a decisive role in Morocco’s historic triumph at the FIFA U-20 World Cup last October, scoring twice in the final against Argentina to secure the title.
The forward finished the tournament as joint top scorer and second-best player overall.
Zabiri has since carried that form into club football, featuring regularly in Portugal’s top flight and scoring four goals since his return from the World Cup. He netted five goals and provided one assist during the U-20 tournament.
Zabiri joined Famalicão in August 2024 on a four-year contract.
