In the ongoing conflict, a devastating Israeli air strike in Gaza City has taken the lives of 11 individuals from the same family, including women and children, according to the Gaza civil defense agency. Agency spokesman Mahmud Bassal reported that the attack targeted the Bustan family home in eastern Gaza City, resulting in the recovery of the bodies of the victims, which includes four children and three women.
The strike occurred near the Shujaiya school in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood, and rescue teams are continuing their search for those unaccounted for. The Israeli military has yet to respond to this specific incident.
Bassal also mentioned that overnight, Israeli forces conducted similar strikes across other areas in the Hamas-controlled territory, with at least ten additional fatalities reported. In northwestern Gaza City, an attack near the Dar Al-Arqam school resulted in the deaths of five people. Meanwhile, three others lost their lives in a strike in the Al-Mawasi area of southern Khan Yunis, where many displaced Palestinians have sought refuge.
The current hostilities began following Hamas’s attack on southern Israel on October 7, which led to the deaths of over 1,200 people, primarily civilians. The assault also included the capture of 251 individuals, with 97 still held in Gaza. Among these captives, the Israeli military reports that 33 are believed to be deceased, a number that includes those killed while in captivity.
In response to the ongoing situation, Israel’s military operations have reportedly claimed at least 41,118 lives in Gaza, according to the health ministry within the Hamas-run territory. They do not distinguish between civilian and militant casualties. The UN human rights office has indicated that a significant portion of the deceased are women and children, highlighting the tragic human impact of the conflict.
