Algerian filmmaker Merzak Allouche’s latest family dramedy, “Front Row,” made its debut at the 49th Toronto International Film Festival, with backing from the Red Sea Fund.
– This is Allouche’s 19th feature film.
– The narrative centers on two matriarchs, Zohra Bouderbala and Safia Kadouri, who come into conflict during a day at the beach.
– Zohra arrives early with her five children to claim a prime spot.
– Tensions escalate when the beach attendant places the Kadouri family directly in front of them, leading to a humorous yet poignant clash between the two families.
