Moroccan government greenlights measures to lift import tariffs on essential goods.

  • The Moroccan government has recently approved a series of decrees aimed at adjusting import tariffs on certain essential goods, as introduced by Fouzi Lekjaa, the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance.

  • The first measure, Decree No. 2.24.960, suspends import tariffs on virgin and extra virgin olive oil.

  • Decree No. 2.24.961 continues the suspension of import tariffs on domestic cattle, amending the prior Decree No. 2.24.064 established earlier in the year.

  • Additionally, Decree No. 2.24.962 suspends import tariffs on domestic sheep, while Decree No. 2.24.963 exempts tariffs on meat from domestic animals, including cattle, sheep, goats, and camels.

  • According to the Ministry of Relations with Parliament, these initiatives are designed to manage import tariffs on vital goods, aiming to stabilize prices and maintain market equilibrium within the country.
