Tory Burch showcased a new collection at New York Fashion Week that captures the essence of sport without delving into traditional sportswear, featuring French-Algerian model Loli Bahia on the runway.
The collection emphasized freedom and movement through relaxed wool pants and wrap dresses, while the combination of various pieces, fabrics, and cuts conveyed a sense of power as models strutted down the catwalk. Bahia particularly stood out in a chic, structured black outfit marked by asymmetrical cuts and overlapping panels, giving it a contemporary, deconstructed look. The top showcased a wrap-like silhouette with subtle ties at the front, complemented by a skirt with a daring high slit.
Her outfit, part of the Spring/Summer 2025 collection, was accessorized with bold, oversized statement earrings and classic black peep-toe heels. Bahia was accompanied by Mona Tougaard, a model with a diverse heritage including Danish, Turkish, Somali, and Ethiopian roots. Tougaard impressed in a sleeveless, cropped black top featuring a V-neckline, paired with a voluminous, flowing white skirt adorned with layered ruffles and soft pleats, she completed her look with neutral open-toe heels and sleek hair.
Other striking pieces from the collection included lightweight suede pants cinched with a rope belt and a fitted sweater decorated in red and white. A delicate transparent white jersey shirt with ruffles and long sleeves was paired with formal brown wool pants.
With this collection, Burch moved away from her signature blend of preppy New England styles and bohemian influences. She expressed that the focus is more on “the spirit and essence of sport,” emphasizing themes of “movement, freedom, and precision.” Burch also reflected on the idea of “synchronicity” while aiming to strike a balance in prints through the use of varied textures, fabrics, and colors. This year marks the 20th anniversary of her renowned fashion brand.
