Moroccan football icons Achraf Hakimi, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain, and Soufiane Rahimi from Al Ain, have received nominations for the esteemed CAF Player of the Year award at the upcoming CAF Awards in Marrakech, 2024.
Both players are up against a strong lineup of contenders, including Amine Gouiri from Algeria, Burkina Faso’s Edmond Tapsoba, Ivory Coast’s Simon Adingra, Chancel Mbemba from Congo, Serhou Guirassy of Guinea, as well as Nigerian duo Ademola Lookman and William Troost-Ekong, and South Africa’s Ronwen Williams.
Soufiane Rahimi had an outstanding season, playing a key role in Al Ain’s triumph in the Asian Champions League, where he emerged as the tournament’s top scorer with an impressive 13 goals. Additionally, he cemented his legacy in Moroccan football by becoming the nation’s all-time leading scorer at the Olympic Games, netting 8 goals and helping secure a bronze medal for Morocco.
