Football emerged as a unifying theme during the second day of the 3rd International Forum of Young Socialist and Social Democratic Parliamentarians, with Moroccan officials highlighting the sport’s potential to foster peace and solidarity ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking on behalf of Faouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), General Coordinator Mouad Hajji delivered a stirring address centered on the upcoming World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal.
“This isn’t just a tournament,” Hajji said. “It’s a powerful symbol of hope, unity, and coexistence in a world increasingly marked by division.”
Quoting King Mohammed VI, Hajji described the event as a “first-of-its-kind bridge” linking Africa and Europe, the Global North and South, and diverse cultures across the Mediterranean. He emphasized Morocco’s historical and geographical role as a crossroads of civilizations, calling the country “a land of tolerance and diversity.”
Hajji underscored football’s unmatched ability to bring people together across borders, backgrounds, and beliefs. “It’s more than a game—it’s a shared emotional language,” he said. “The 2030 World Cup will be a moment of global unity.”

The Moroccan official also urged attendees to view the tournament not only as a sporting milestone but as an opportunity to promote broader human values. “This is about more than sport. It’s about humanity, respect, and understanding each other,” Hajji said, highlighting themes of inclusion, sustainability, and solidarity.
He stressed the importance of “co-development,” particularly for African nations, pointing to the economic and social benefits the World Cup could generate across the continent. “Football can be a tool for development, creating jobs, infrastructure, and investment,” he said.
Morocco, he added, remains committed to strengthening regional partnerships and ensuring the tournament serves as a catalyst for inclusive growth.

Hajji concluded his remarks with a call to action: “Morocco is ready—not just to host matches, but to help build a better future. This World Cup is a bridge between continents, generations, and cultures. It’s a chance to showcase what humanity can achieve when united by the love of the game.”
The session ended on a celebratory note, as foreign parliamentarians received personalized Moroccan football jerseys and praised the country’s remarkable rise in international football—especially its performance at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
