With the countdown now officially underway, Lusail International Circuit stands ready to once again welcome the world, offering a Formula 1 weekend that captures the thrill of racing and the passion that unites motorsport enthusiasts everywhere.
Lusail International Circuit (LIC) officially launched the “50 Days to Go” countdown for the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix 2025 during a press conference held today, 11 October, that showcased the venue’s readiness to host one of the year’s most anticipated racing weekends.
The event, taking place from 28 to 30 November, will welcome thousands of fans, drivers, and teams from across the globe.
Leading the press conference, Ali Al Dosari, Executive Director of Operations, and Hamad Alkhalaqi, PR and Communications Manager at LIC, unveiled details of the circuit’s final preparations. They shared updates on enhanced fan experiences, sustainability measures, community engagement programmes, and citywide activities in the build-up to race weekend.
Commenting on the occasion, Abdulaziz Ali Al Mohannadi, CEO of Lusail International Circuit, said: “The Formula 1 Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix has become a true showcase of Qatar’s innovation and hospitality.
“This year, we are proud to present not only a world-class race but an entire festival experience that connects technology, culture, education, sustainability and community initiatives. Our goal is to deliver a weekend that celebrates the very best of Qatar and continues to position LIC as a leader in international motorsport.”
This year’s programme promises non-stop excitement both on and off the track. Alongside Sunday’s main race, fans can look forward to the Formula 1 Sprint Race, FIA Formula 2 Championship, and Porsche Carrera Middle East Cup – ensuring continuous high-speed action throughout the weekend.
Beyond the track, entertainment will reach new heights with two major concerts. The world-renowned British singer Seal will perform on Friday night, followed by an electrifying Sunday performance from legendary rock band Metallica.
The Fan Zone will be completely reimagined, offering a mix of thrill, education, culture, and interactivity, including a larger family area, local food and beverage options, and the Qatar Cultural Area celebrating national heritage through traditional performances, crafts, and hospitality such as Ardha, Arabic coffee, dates, and demonstrations of Sadu weaving and pottery.
For the first time in the Middle East, LEGO will join the event with its global “Build The Thrill” experience, allowing guests to create their own mini LEGO F1 cars, enjoy immersive visuals, and take home their creations in exclusive Qatar Grand Prix packaging.
The Fan Zone will also feature F1-themed attractions such as the Sim Racing Challenge, LED Pitstop Challenge, Driver Selfie Station, DJ Podium, “This is F1 4D” cinematic show, and virtual pit tours – cementing LIC’s reputation as one of the sport’s most fan-centric venues.
Educational and sustainability-focused attractions will take centre stage as well, including the F1 Genius Dome exploring aerodynamics and race strategy, the Green Arena cycling challenge generating energy, and the Gallery of Second Life, an art exhibition created from recycled materials.
A special highlight this year is The Sensory Room, developed in collaboration with Qatar Foundation, offering a calm and inclusive space for guests with sensory sensitivities – a reflection of LIC’s commitment to accessibility and inclusivity.
In line with Qatar National Vision 2030, sustainability remains at the core of LIC’s operations. New initiatives include recycling stations made from repurposed wood, expanded solar-powered lighting, a growing fleet of electric vehicles, and the promotion of public transport for ticket holders. The food redistribution programme will also continue, helping to reduce waste and support local communities.
To enhance the digital experience, LIC introduced a bilingual cloud-based event map and navigation platform that will help fans plan and move seamlessly throughout the circuit – from home to parking, and across fan zones, concerts, and amenities – offering real-time updates and personalised guidance.
The press conference further highlighted LIC’s ongoing youth and community engagement efforts, such as the Qatar GP Educational Tour, which introduces students to motorsport through VR pit stops, STEM activities, and simulations of the Lusail track.
The Volunteer Programme will also return, engaging hundreds of local participants across operational areas, while a partnership with the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) will provide students with internships in sports and event management.
Throughout November, citywide activations will build excitement for the Grand Prix. The Qatar GP Village 2025 at Place Vendôme Mall will bring the spirit of Formula 1® to Doha with VR simulators, holograms, and interactive design challenges. Meanwhile, giant F1® helmet installations will appear across landmarks, including Old Doha Port and Msheireb, turning the city into a celebration of motorsport and culture.
