Morocco’s import unit value index fell 5.8 percent in the third quarter of 2025 from a year earlier, while the export unit value index rose 0.4 percent over the same period, the High Commission for Planning said in a note on foreign trade index numbers for Q3 2025.
The HCP attributed the import decline mainly to lower average values for industrial capital goods and semi finished products, both down 8.7 percent, and to a drop of 11.6 percent for energy and lubricants.
It also cited declines of 3.1 percent in consumer goods, 3.8 percent in food, beverages and tobacco, and 2.3 percent in raw materials of animal or plant origin.
On the export side, the HCP said the overall increase was driven chiefly by higher average values for semi finished products, up 10.7 percent, and raw materials of mineral origin, up 4.1 percent.
Other export groupings posted declines that tempered the overall rise, the HCP said, including industrial capital goods down 4.2 percent, consumer goods down 1.6 percent, food, beverages and tobacco down 3 percent, energy and lubricants down 22.3 percent and raw materials of animal or plant origin down 17.3 percent.
