Morocco will shortly introduce a unified platform for foreign trade to bring all public bodies involved in import and export under one system, Secretary of State for Foreign Trade Omar Hejira said in parliament.
Speaking before the House of Councillors, Hejira said the recent increase in imports should not be treated as an economic warning sign, arguing that Morocco is carrying out major projects such as desalination plants and infrastructure linked to the 2030 World Cup. He said even the automotive industry relies on imported inputs.
Hejira said the government is rolling out a new export support program aimed at strengthening Morocco’s competitiveness abroad. The initiative is open to firms of all sizes and will include a regional component to involve every part of the country.
He said the single window will replace the current multi agency system involving ports, food safety controls, customs and Tanger Med. The platform will rely on digital tools and artificial intelligence.
Hejira said Morocco maintains strict anti dumping measures, with more than 40 safeguard actions in place, saving 13 billion dirhams a year and protecting about 5,000 jobs.
