Morocco’s export prices rose while import prices declined in the first quarter of 2026, reflecting stronger export prices and lower energy costs, according to data released Thursday by the High Commission for Planning (HCP).
The export unit value index rose 2.6% from a year earlier, while the import unit value index fell 0.5%, indicating an improvement in Morocco’s terms of trade.
The decline in import prices was driven primarily by a 7.8% drop in energy and lubricant prices. Import prices also fell for industrial equipment, food products, semi-finished goods, agricultural equipment, and raw animal and vegetable products.
Among imported products, unit values for mineral raw materials jumped 80%, while consumer goods rose 2.8%.
According to the HCP, the export unit value index increased to 120.1 in the first quarter from 117.0 a year earlier, while the import unit value index edged down to 108.7 from 109.3.
