Morocco’s export sector has demonstrated resilience despite successive years of drought, with agriculture, phosphates and aerospace driving growth, according to the latest report from the Directorate of Studies and Financial Forecasts.
Exports from agriculture and agri-food industries rose by 3.2 percent year-on-year to 48.5 billion dirhams by the end of June 2025, maintaining a 20.6 percent share of the Kingdom’s total exports.
The growth was fueled by a 10.3 percent rise in agriculture, forestry and fisheries exports, offsetting a 4.4 percent decline in processed food exports.
Phosphates and derivatives confirmed their strategic weight, with exports up 18.9 percent to 46.6 billion dirhams. This increase was driven by surging phosphate sales (+51.4 percent), phosphoric acid (+12.8 percent) and fertilizers (+16.7 percent). The sector’s share of national exports climbed from 17.1 to 19.7 percent.
The aerospace industry also strengthened its role, posting an 8.8 percent increase to 14.1 billion dirhams, mainly supported by the assembly segment (+8.6 percent). Its contribution rose to 6 percent of total exports compared to 5.7 percent last year.
Other industries grew by 13.1 percent to 15.7 billion dirhams, buoyed by metallurgy and mining (+16 percent) as well as plastics and rubber (+24.6 percent).
By contrast, automotive exports fell 3.6 percent to 77.6 billion dirhams, weighed down by a 15.3 percent drop in vehicle manufacturing, although wiring exports grew by 3.5 percent. Despite this contraction, the sector remains dominant, representing 32.9 percent of Morocco’s total exports, above levels recorded between 2019 and 2023.
Textiles and leather slipped 4 percent to 22.5 billion dirhams, while electronics and electrical exports declined 7.8 percent to 8.6 billion dirhams, hurt by a 41.8 percent fall in electronic components.
