The first season of the French version of Netflix’s reality show Love is Blind is currently being filmed in Morocco, with the famous judoka Teddy Riner and his wife, Luthna Plocus, at the helm, according to Le Parisien.
This marks the latest adaptation of the global reality series, which has been successful in multiple countries.
In this French edition, Riner, a five-time Olympic gold medalist in judo, and his wife will guide the contestants through the series’ signature “blind dating” format. Participants—about fifteen men and women—meet and engage in conversations through individual pods without seeing each other, testing whether love can truly be “blind.”
If any couples form, they will then meet in person and take the next step toward marriage. Before the big day, they will experience a staged honeymoon and plan their wedding in real life, culminating in an official ceremony.
Filming for the series is currently underway in Morocco, after a previous shoot in Sweden, where the show’s lofts are located.
Le Parisien suggests that the scenes in Morocco likely feature the couples’ first vacations together in a dreamy, idyllic setting.
Riner’s personal connection to Morocco adds an interesting layer to the production. He has long expressed his love for the country, particularly Marrakech, where he spends part of the year. He has described the city as ideal for both training and relaxation. The country also holds special memories for him, as he enjoys family trips to the desert for much-needed breaks.
