The Board of Directors of Iberdrola, S.A. has appointed Pedro Azagra as CEO of the Group. He was previously CEO of the US subsidiary, replacing Armando Martínez.
Pedro Azagra has been with Iberdrola for 25 years, first as director of development and head of the company’s international expansion, and for the last three years as CEO of Iberdrola’s US subsidiary.
Pedro Azagra holds a degree in Business Administration and Law from the Catholic Institute of Business Administration and Management (ICADE) at the Pontifical University of Comillas in Madrid, where he has also been a lecturer in Corporate Finance and Mergers and Acquisitions.
He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago (United States) and spent his professional career in the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley until he joined the Iberdrola Group.
In addition to being CEO of Iberdrola in the United States, he has been chairman of Avangrid Power and Avangrid Networks, and is currently a member of the board of Neoenergia, Iberdrola’s Brazilian subsidiary.
His position in the United States will be filled by José Antonio Miranda, currently CEO of Avangrid Power, who has extensive experience in the sector.
He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Oviedo and an MBA from ICADE, and has been CEO of Gamesa in China and the United States. He is a member of the Board of American Clean Power and a member of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
