Morocco’s government has approved a decree granting public financial support to parliamentary candidates under the age of 35, expanding access to campaign funding for younger entrants into politics, according to Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP).
Government spokesperson Mustapha Baitas said in Rabat that the new framework sets conditions and procedures for accessing funding across local and regional electoral lists and seeks to boost youth participation in politics.
He underscored that the support targets young people wishing to run, whether affiliated with political parties or not, provided they meet the conditions.
Baitas added that candidates must open dedicated bank accounts for each electoral list to track campaign income and expenses, ensuring transparency and oversight.
He noted that candidates must also submit certified campaign finance reports to the Court of Accounts within the legal deadlines after being certified by an accountant.
