Morocco’s Ambassador to the United States, Youssef Amrani, met in Washington with Andrew Giuliani, Executive Director of the White House Task Force for the 2026 World Cup, according to Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP).
The talks focused on cooperation ahead of the 2026 World Cup, which the United States will co-host with Mexico and Canada from June 11 to July 19. Morocco will co-host the 2030 edition with Spain and Portugal.
Amrani highlighted the broader political dimension of the partnership. He called the World Cup “a window onto the vitality, depth, and determination of an alliance but, above all, an unwavering friendship” between Morocco and the United States.
He added, “The immense joy for our country to host the 2030 World Cup grows stronger as we take over from a 2026 edition organized by our American partners as we celebrate 250 years of bilateral relations.”
Amrani also said Morocco “continues to build, in football and diplomacy, a shared story between two allies bound by time and by heart.”
Giuliani described cooperation with Morocco as “a priority and a unifying commitment.” He said U.S. authorities will work closely with Morocco to deliver “2026 and 2030 two grand successes.”
The American officials also commended Morocco’s football infrastructure and said FIFA President Gianni Infantino had expressed admiration for the Kingdom’s sports model.
The meeting also included Simon Bland, director of international affairs at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
The talks covered operational coordination, including security cooperation.
