Three Moroccan banking groups continue to dominate the country’s financial system, accounting for nearly 60% of banking assets and more than 60% of loans and deposits, according to Morocco’s 2025 Financial Stability Report.
Morocco’s three top banks held 59.9% of the sector’s total assets, 63.2% of net customer loans, and 62.1% of customer deposits.
The lenders also maintained an extensive domestic and international footprint, operating 2,955 branches across Morocco, as well as 51 foreign subsidiaries and 22 overseas branches.
Morocco’s banking industry continued to increase lending in 2025. Customer credit rose 6.9%, while deposits increased 7.7%, accompanied by a slight improvement in asset quality for the second consecutive year.
Banks also remained well capitalized, with an average solvency ratio of 16.1%, and stress tests confirmed their resilience to severe macroeconomic shocks, the report said.
The report was prepared jointly by Bank Al-Maghrib, the Moroccan Capital Market Authority (AMMC), and the Insurance and Social Welfare Supervisory Authority (ACAPS).
