The President of Atout France, Christian Mantei, and the President of the French Tour Operators’ Union (SETO), Patrice Caradec, have applauded Morocco’s management of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and commended the country’s overall tourism strategy, according to Morocco’s Tourism Office (ONMT).
Visiting Morocco upon the invitation of ONMT, Mantei said the AFCON semifinal highlights Morocco’s experience in hosting international events at the highest level. “Everything is running smoothly, clearly, and efficiently. Behind this success, we see a clear strategic vision led by ONMT to transform each event into a lasting tourism asset,” he said.
Mantei noted that Morocco’s success relies on strong infrastructure, proven logistics, and a high level of hospitality. “The country is prepared, structured, and confident in its ability to welcome the world. AFCON is designed to enhance Morocco’s image, showcase its regions, and encourage visitors to extend their experience. The ONMT orchestrates this process with remarkable coherence.”
Similarly, Caradec said that AFCON immediately strengthened Morocco’s image as “a reliable destination.”
“For tour operators, an event similar to this builds trust,” he said. “It shows the destination can handle large crowds while maintaining quality. This level of coordination reflects the strategic work of ONMT.”
The tournament’s international visibility is also strengthening Morocco’s tourism appeal. Millions of viewers around the world saw a modern, organized, and welcoming Morocco. “Sport becomes a powerful tourism tool here,” Caradec said. “It tells the story of a country in motion, capable of highlighting its regions and experiences. ONMT plays a central role in ensuring every event extends beyond the stadium and the competition.”
Mantei and Caradec agreed that AFCON 2025 went far beyond sport. It served as a live showcase of Morocco’s experience in infrastructure, logistics, security, and hospitality.
Thanks to AFCON, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), the Maroc 2030 Foundation, and ONMT’s promotional strategy, Morocco “presented itself to the world as a confident, organized, and attractive destination,” ONMT concluded.
