First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef

KUWAIT CITY, March 26: First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef has said that “the security personnel are on high alert, maintaining the highest level of vigilance and readiness to safeguard the country and prevent any attempt to undermine it.”

In a statement to the newspaper following the State Security system’s preemptive strike against traitors and the arrest of a third cell affiliated with the terrorist group Hezbollah two days ago, he asserted that “Kuwait’s security and stability are red lines, and any attempt to compromise them will not be tolerated. Security agencies are fully prepared and vigilant to maintain national security and stability. Anyone who dares to tamper with security will be dealt with firmly.”

He stressed that the Ministry of Interior is closely monitoring all those who attempt to destabilize security and stability, indicating “Kuwait remains an oasis of safety and security, impervious to traitors and terrorists.” He stated that the law is applied fairly and firmly on everyone, and the strictest legal measures are taken against anyone proven to be involved in any crime that threatens national security and stability. He warned that “there is no tolerance for terrorism and terrorists. The partnership with the public, private, military and civilian executive and oversight sectors of the State is firmly established.”

He then pointed out that no law permits the formation of political parties or organizations. He explained that “political parties are dangerous for Kuwait and we will not allow them. Any such organization or party that is discovered will be subject to the law, its existence will not be permitted, and its members will be held accountable as per the law.” It is worth noting that the Supreme Judicial Council expressed its opinion on the proposed Regulating Political Bodies Law, concluding that “the establishment of political parties in Kuwait has no basis in the Constitution. It is prohibited and political parties are considered a threat to the country and the government.”

In a related development, the minister urged the citizens to take advantage of the amnesty period for surrendering unlicensed weapons, whether remnants of the invasion or personal possessions, to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands or exposing individuals to legal repercussions. Last Monday, the ministry announced an exceptional and final grace period for surrendering unlicensed firearms, ammunition and explosives — until the end of official working hours on April 1.

In a press statement, the ministry stated that during this period, no punitive measures will be taken against those who voluntarily surrender their weapons, ammunition, or explosives in accordance with applicable legal provisions and as a means of encouraging cooperation with the relevant authorities. It clarified that once the deadline ends, the law will be strictly enforced, and all the necessary legal measures will be taken, including search and seizure operations, within the established legal framework. It added that the surrender of weapons, ammunition and explosives can be done at any police station.
