Morocco’s automotive exports exceeded 12.24 billion dirhams ($1.22 billion) in January 2026, marking a 19.1% increase compared with the same month a year earlier, according to the country’s foreign exchange regulator.
In its latest monthly report on external trade indicators, the Office des Changes said the growth was driven primarily by higher sales in the manufacturing segment, which surged 60.6% to nearly 4.37 billion dirhams, and the electrical wiring system segment, known as “cabling,” which rose 9.6% to 4.96 billion dirhams.
Aeronautics exports also posted gains, rising 8.7% to more than 2.43 billion dirhams. The improvement was supported by a 17.2% increase in assembly segment sales, despite a 5.9% decline in exports of electrical wiring interconnection systems (EWIS).
By contrast, several key sectors recorded declines. Exports of phosphates and derivatives fell 43.4%, while agriculture and agribusiness exports dropped 9.5%. Shipments in the textiles and leather sector declined 5.9%, and electronics and electrical exports were down 3.8%.
Overall, Morocco’s exports slipped 2.7% in January compared with a year earlier, totaling 34.5 billion dirhams, the report said.
