Fuel prices in Morocco are set to rise again from midnight on Tuesday, according to Hespress and industry sources cited by regional media, marking the second increase this month as the Iran war continues to disrupt global energy markets.
Desel is expected to rise by 1.70 dirhams per litre to about 14.52 dirhams and gasoline by 1.57 dirhams to around 15.52 dirhams.
The latest adjustment would bring cumulative increases since mid March to about 3.70 dirhams per litre for diesel and 3.01 dirhams for gasoline, after an earlier round of hikes on March 16.
Energy Minister Leila Benali told Hespress on Monday that Morocco held more than 47 days of diesel reserves, more than 52 days of gasoline and around 38 days of butane.
Oil markets remain under severe strain because of the Iran war and disruption around the Strait of Hormuz, with some analysts warning prices could climb toward $200 a barrel if the crisis persists.
