According to the report, Infantino could remain eligible to run until 2031 despite FIFA’s three-term limit because his first mandate, from 2016 to 2019, was considered incomplete after he succeeded former president Sepp Blatter.
Rabat is expected to host the congress, although FIFA has not yet officially announced the final venue. The Moroccan capital would welcome football federation delegates from around the world for the gathering.
The choice of Morocco comes as the country prepares to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal and after securing the organization of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, reinforcing its position as a major international sports destination.
Before the 2027 congress, FIFA’s next congress is scheduled for Thursday in Vancouver, where officials are expected to discuss financial and organizational matters related to the 2026 World Cup, including transport, infrastructure and coordination among host stadiums.
