UAE petrol prices dropped in July 2026 after rising every month since April. Special 95 is now AED 3.29 per litre (down from AED 3.83 in June), Super 98 is AED 3.40, E-Plus 91 is AED 3.21, and diesel fell hardest to AED 3.60 (from AED 4.33). For a 60-litre tank of Special 95, that is roughly AED 32 less per fill-up than June.
After three months of steady increases, the UAE Fuel Price Committee cut petrol and diesel rates for July 2026. If you have been watching your fuel bill creep up since spring, this is the first real relief of the year, and it lands right in the middle of the summer driving season.
How much is petrol in the UAE in July 2026?
These rates took effect on 1 July 2026 and hold across all seven emirates until the next monthly review:
| Fuel grade | July 2026 | June 2026 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Super 98 | AED 3.40 | AED 3.95 | down AED 0.55 |
| Special 95 | AED 3.29 | AED 3.83 | down AED 0.54 |
| E-Plus 91 | AED 3.21 | AED 3.76 | down AED 0.55 |
| Diesel | AED 3.60 | AED 4.33 | down AED 0.73 |
Petrol is down about 14 percent month on month, and diesel about 17 percent, the sharpest single-month move of 2026 so far.
Why did petrol prices drop in July 2026?
UAE fuel prices track global oil markets, which the Fuel Price Committee reviews at the start of each month. Prices had climbed from April into a June peak, so July’s cut reflects a cooling in international crude through the previous weeks. Here is how the year has run:
| Month | Special 95 | Diesel |
|---|---|---|
| April 2026 | AED 3.28 | AED 4.69 |
| May 2026 | AED 3.55 | AED 4.69 |
| June 2026 | AED 3.83 | AED 4.33 |
| July 2026 | AED 3.29 | AED 3.60 |
So July has essentially unwound the spring climb for petrol and taken diesel to its lowest point of the year.
What the July cut saves you at the pump
On Special 95, the numbers are easy to feel:
- A 60-litre fill-up now costs about AED 197, against roughly AED 230 in June. That is around AED 32 saved every time you fill.
- Over a month of typical use (about four fills, 240 litres), you save close to AED 130 versus June.
- A larger SUV on a 90-litre tank saves about AED 49 per fill.
Diesel drivers gain the most: the AED 0.73 cut is worth roughly AED 44 on a 60-litre fill. Note that 5 percent VAT is already included in the pump price.
What it means if you rent or buy a car
Fuel is one of the biggest running costs of owning a car, so a swing like this changes the maths on two decisions people make on OneClickDrive every day.
If you rent: most car rental deposits and daily rates do not move with fuel, but your own running cost does. A cheaper month is a good time to take that road trip you had parked, or to try a larger vehicle without the June-level fuel penalty.
If you are buying used: the spring price spike pushed a lot of buyers toward hybrids and fuel-sippers. With July’s cut, the panic premium on ultra-efficient cars eases slightly, which can make a well-kept petrol SUV or sedan better value again. If you are weighing options, our guide to used cars under AED 100,000 and the GCC vs non-GCC spec breakdown are the practical places to start.
The honest read: one month of lower prices should not decide a car purchase on its own, because next month can just as easily reverse. Buy for the car and your real usage, and treat the fuel line as a monthly variable, not a fixed one.
Frequently asked questions
What is the petrol price in the UAE right now?
As of July 2026, Special 95 is AED 3.29 per litre, Super 98 is AED 3.40, E-Plus 91 is AED 3.21, and diesel is AED 3.60. These are the same across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the other emirates.
Did petrol prices go up or down in July 2026?
Down. Every grade fell compared with June, by about 14 percent for petrol and 17 percent for diesel, the biggest monthly drop of 2026 so far.
When do UAE petrol prices change?
The UAE Fuel Price Committee sets rates at the start of each month, and they stay fixed until the next review. So the July rates hold until the August announcement.
Is it cheaper to fill up in Dubai or Abu Dhabi?
Neither. UAE fuel prices are set nationally, so a litre of Special 95 costs the same in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and every other emirate.
Should the July drop change whether I rent or buy?
Not on its own. Fuel is a monthly variable that can reverse next month. Decide on the car and your usage first, then factor fuel as a running cost either way.
