The upcoming event highlights the strengthened relationship between Iran and Qatar, as they prepare for the tenth edition of the Iran-Qatar Joint Economic Cooperation Commission in Doha this November. This forum aims to showcase Iranian trade and economic accomplishments, featuring specialized workshops alongside the main discussions.
Recently, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian concluded his first official state visit to Qatar, where significant agreements worth $6 billion were signed. This collaboration emerged following conversations between the central banks of both nations and a meeting with Qatar’s Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
During this visit, President Pezeshkian mentioned the successful discussions that led to the signing of multiple memorandums. One key agreement focused on improving the Port of Dayyer development project, which is expected to enhance economic links between the two nations.
In August, Iran’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Abbas Araghchi, expressed Iran’s ambition to elevate bilateral relations, particularly regarding economic and trade sectors. His remarks came during a visit from a Qatari delegation led by the Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, who also conveyed optimism about the future of economic cooperation.
Araghchi emphasized that the Joint Economic Commission serves as a crucial framework for enhancing coordination and collaboration between the two countries. The previous meeting of this commission took place in Tehran last December and focused on several key areas: trade, infrastructure, social and cultural issues, and energy.
The event, co-chaired by Qatari Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Abdullah Al Thani and former Iranian Energy Minister Ali Akbar Mehrabian, resulted in various agreements, particularly in energy development, including plans for electric interconnection and renewable energy projects.
Both nations continue to foster a spirit of collaboration, looking forward to mutual growth and enhanced ties ahead.
