Morocco has decided to procure one of the impressive Embraer C-390 Millennium military transport aircraft, as reported by the Atlas Defense and Security Observatory. This announcement comes after the aircraft underwent evaluation in Rabat back in March, solidifying Morocco’s intention to add the C-390 Millennium to its military capabilities.
– The Moroccan flag was prominently displayed alongside those of Brazil and several other nations, including Portugal, Hungary, the Netherlands, Austria, South Korea, the Czech Republic, the United Arab Emirates, and Chile, during a recent Embraer conference in Brazil.
– This acquisition is part of Morocco’s broader initiative to enhance its military strength, which includes the recent announcement regarding its first submarine for the Royal Marine fleet.
– Furthermore, discussions are underway for the potential production of the C-390 within Morocco, which could provide significant economic benefits and job creation for the local economy.
– Currently, Morocco operates a fleet that includes four C-27J Spartans, 16 C-130H Hercules, and six CASA CN-235s. Notably, one of the Hercules aircraft is designated for intelligence gathering, while two have been retrofitted for refueling missions.
– The integration of the C-390 Millennium is expected to bolster Morocco’s logistical capabilities, benefiting both military and civilian operations. This expansion will enhance the country’s autonomy in transport and refueling missions and strengthen its standing in regional security matters.
