The King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Nature Reserve is actively engaged in the crucial mission of safeguarding the Arabian Sand Gazelle from the verge of extinction.

Recent conservation initiatives within the reserve have led to a notable revival of this elegant species, as reported by local sources.

Renowned for its beauty, grace, and speed, the Arabian Sand Gazelle has seen a drastic decline in its population over the last century, primarily due to poaching activities.

Field teams are diligently monitoring the gazelle population, which has started to breed successfully within the reserve, ensuring their safety and welfare.

The successful breeding of these gazelles is a positive indication of the high-quality natural habitats available in the reserve, affirming their suitability for wildlife.

The reserve’s authority is dedicated to the protection of endangered species, aiming to reintroduce them into their natural environments, encourage self-reproduction, and promote environmental balance.

Efforts are being made to enhance public awareness regarding the Arabian Sand Gazelle while simultaneously supporting biodiversity.

In addition to its conservation objectives, the reserve seeks to establish itself as a sustainable tourism destination, aimed at showcasing its rich ecological and biological variety.

Covering an expansive 130,700 square kilometers, the reserve is the largest terrestrial nature reserve in the Middle East, crossing through four administrative regions: Al-Jawf, Hail, Northern Borders, and Tabuk.

The reserve boasts a variety of natural habitats, terrains, and distinctive geographical features. It has recently achieved several international environmental certifications, including being listed on the Green List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, marking it as the first Saudi reserve to receive such recognition.
